AAP leader Sanjay Singh told media after meeting Poonam Azad at her residence said that “Poonam Azad will officially join the AAP on November 13.”
Poonam Azad was presently serving as a spokesperson of BJP and she contested against Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in 2003 assembly polls. Though she kept silent on the issue and said she will speak further only after she joins AAP.
According to sources and media reports, it has come to known that she was annoyed with BJP leadership for ignoring her despite her work for the party for more than 20 years.
A close aide of Poonam Azad said that “She was denied ticket in the last two assembly polls only because a senior BJP leader had reservations against the family. Even her son was denied ticket of MCD election.”
“In the fight for self-respect, she finally chooses the AAP,” he added.
Kirti Azad had been the BJP national executive for three times. He was suspended from BJP after he spoke against corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and it was headed by Arun Jaitley.
