Surat textile traders continue protest againt GST

As the stir fuelled, many cloth shops have been shut down on Saturday. The response was seen in even Gwalior where traders are on three day-strike.

All the textile traders gathered at the Ramnarayan Dharamshala near Naya Bazar against the lathi-charge held on protesters and they have decided to continue their strike for three days.

They alleged that government is treating them like criminals.

The cloth traders are protesting against 5% GST rate as earlier there was no tax levied on clothes but after July 1 5% tax is levied on the textile.

Thus many traders in Surat were protesting for many days. To disperse the crowd police had to lathi charge them while the protesters allege that they were protesting peacefully.
