New Delhi, Jan 30: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to stay implementation of an amendment in SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act.

A bench of Justice UU Lalit fixed February 19 for the final hearing of pleas challenging the Act that rule out any provision for anticipatory bail for a person accused of atrocities against SC/STs and review plea against the March 20, 2018 judgement.

On January 25, top court had said it would consider listing the central government’s review and pleas challenging the amendments to the SC/ ST Act, 2018, together before an appropriate bench.

Earlier also, the apex court had refused to stay the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2018.
