Aadhar Bill Supreme Court

New Delhi, Dec 14: Supreme Court on Friday agreed to Centre’s submissions of the deadline for mandatory  linking Aadhaar with all schemes till March 31 2018.

The Centre vehemently pressed before the five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra for allowing the national biometric identifier to remain mandatory for opening new bank accounts.

The interim order would be subject to the final outcome of the batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Aadhaar Act on the grounds of it violating the fundamental right to privacy.

The next hearing would take place on January 17, 2018.
