Sunanda Pushkar Death Case: Delhi Court grants anticipatory bail to Shashi Tharoor

New Delhi, July 3: The Patiala House on Wednesday granted an anticipatory bail to Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in connection with the death case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Additional Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar allowed his anticipatory bail plea asking him to furnish a bond of Rs 1 lakh.

Besides this, the Court said Tharoor cannot travel abroad without prior permission of the court and cannot tamper with the evidence and witness.

Tharoor had moved the bail plea in the Court on Tuesday.

The court had issued a summon notice to Tharoor in the case on June 5.

He was asked to appear before the court on July 7.

Prior to this on May 24, the Delhi Court transferred the case to the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM), Samar Vishal.

The court said, “Since he (Tharoor) is a sitting Member of Parliament, the matter is being sent to the special designated court for politicians, that is ACMM Samar Vishal. Matter be taken up on May 28.”

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a suite of Delhi’s five-star hotel on the night of January 17, 2014.
