Kabul, Dec 24 :A suicide bomber exploded his car outside a building housing the government’s department for martyrs and disabled persons on Monday moments before gunmen stormed the building armed with automatic rifles, suicide vests and explosive devises, Kabul police chief spokesman Basir Mujahid said.
Gunmen on the second floor of a building exchanged fire against Afghan security forces, Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the interior ministry said.
“First there was a car bombing. Following the attack, a number of suicide bombers entered into the Deputy Ministry for Martyrs and Disabled,” Rahimi said.
The two attackers have now been killed and at least five people have been killed in the clashes.
The attack took place around 3.15 p.m. in Police District 16.
“All roads leading to the area are blocked and the clearance operation is underway to gun down the attackers,” he said.
