Style, Make-up and hair styling tips for this party season

New Delhi, Dec 21 Want to stand out during the party season? You know a holiday beauty look when you see it, maybe there’s a pop of velvety red lipstick or some glitter strewn about. And you get a pass on a little too much highlighter. Let these red carpet and runway beauty looks inspire you to put a festive spin on your usual makeup.

Celebrity hair stylist and make-up experts Aasif Ahmed and Adrian Jacobs have shared tips to look stunning this season of celebrations.

*Ponytails: Ponytails are very much back in fashion this season. Straighten your hair with a flat iron and tie it up into a high ponytail.

*Hair extensions: If you don’t have great hair then this is the right weather to use loads of hair extensions. Try out the colours streaked ones.

*Heat protector: If you are using heat on hair, like a blow dryer, curling tongs or a straightener don’t forget to use a good heat protector on towelled dry hair. It helps to protect your natural hair from high temperature.

*Hair mask: As it’s the party season, one tends to use a lot of products and heat on the hair. So once in a while opt for a protein hair mask to pamper your luscious hair.

*Use liquid base for the face: As it is winter now, it is important to use a moisturiser that boosts the look of dull skin and illuminates the face.

*Go with liners: This season is the best for eye liners! Use a gel pencil from faces and smudge it a little with a black or brown eye shadow. Apply mascara, do your brows, make sure they are aligned properly and you’re done with your eyes.

*Tinted lip balms: Lips tend to get dry because of the climate change, hence opt for tinted lip balms instead of coloured lipsticks as after a while it will crack your lips. Tinted lip balms enhance their natural glow while moisturising your dry lips.

*Use soframycin: If you have a pimple prone skin, use soframycin on your skin 15 minutes before you apply makeup. Not too much, just a few spots, it soothes the pimples and when you put makeup the make-up does not affect the skin directly.

anti ageing-process

New Delhi, Dec 18: Don’t be paranoid if you see your skin ageing. There are a number of solutions — be it by using natural ingredients like jojoba rich in vitamin E and vitamin C, or by exploring skin resurfacing solutions, suggest experts.

Datinderjeet Singh Tulla, Head of Department of the Dermat, Laser, Hair Transplant and Medical Services category at VLCC and Shubhika Jain, Founder of RAS Luxury Oils, have tips:

* Skin Resurfacing solutions: Skin resurfacing is a skin therapy is nowadays used for various skin corrections ranging from skin brightening, skin lightening, skin hydration, pigment correction, acne and acne scars improvement, reduction in superficial wrinkles and correction of photo damaged skin.

* Healthy diet: Our diet can help make our skin healthier and youthful. Plenty of fresh fruits and green, leafy vegetables are recommended. While vitamin C is responsible for collagen production found in oranges, lemon, broccoli and kale, vitamin A from carrots, antioxidant rich berries must be included in our diet.

Nuts are a good source of vitamin E, healthy fats, selenium, magnesium and other micronutrients.

* Avoid sugar: Food high in sugar accelerates aging of skin and inflammation. The most effective way for clear youthful skin is water which helps flushing out toxins.

* Thermage: Due to ageing process, the facial skin starts drooping down and jowls appear on the face with the laugh lines becoming prominent. A bipolar radio frequency device which causes tissue heating resulting in collagen remodelling helps to improve the jowls and makes the laugh lines better resulting in lifting of face skin giving a younger fresher look to the face.

* Clean and natural ingredients: What we apply on our skin must be good enough to eat as 60 per cent of what meets our skin goes directly into our bloodstream. Ingredients should be prioritised to reduce the adverse effects of using chemical loaded anti-ageing creams lotions which can lead to irritation, temporary fixations, long term respiratory issues and even cancer.

* HIFU (High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound): This device-based treatment is based on ultrasound rays which cause tightening of the muscle layer beneath the facial skin and also works on the face skin resulting in collagen remodelling.

* Liquid Face Lift: This is an instant face lift procedure which is also dubbed as lunch time procedure in which in a single session you can get a instant skin lift with facial features enhancement and facial lines correction by the use of fillers and wrinkle amelioration by the use of Botox.

Candles invoke the energy of purification and inspiration. They warm up the energy and help release daily stress.

New Delhi, Dec 16: Adding elements like candles, fireplace, bright Christmas lights and fiery gold and red decorations will not just help to beautify your home, but also lend a positive vibe, say Vastu experts.

Astro numerologist, tarot and Vastu expert Shelly Maheswari Gupta, suggests:

* Fire represents the energy of sun and life. A balanced feng shui fire element in your home will bring joy, excitement and strong energies. Use the colour red with most moderation in children’s rooms, and freely in the living room, the dining room and the kitchen.

* Candles invoke the energy of purification and inspiration. They warm up the energy and help release daily stress. Candles also bring a creative and vibrant quality of energy to any space. Candles are best used in the feng shui areas of south, southwest, northeast and the centre of your home.

* Decorate your home with garlands and lights in U-shape so that they seem to ‘smile’. Decorate at eye-level to lift the vibe of the room and the mood of those in it.

* Put a picture of your family and friends with you in a wooden frame. Wood is associated with family and friends in feng shui, and place that in the lobby it allows for feelings of closeness, intimacy and welcoming — be it scentsible pine or eucalyptus scents cleanse an atmosphere of negative energy. Cloves and bayberry create calm and harmony. And putting cloves in oranges and placing them in the kitchen or dining room encourages abundance, money and joy.
