Sterlite Protest: Opposition seeks Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswami’s resignation

Chennai, May 29: DMK Working President MK Stalin today on the behalf of opposition sought the resignation of Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami should resign over the anti-Sterlite protest.

Speaking to media, Stalin said On the behalf of the opposition, we demand that CM Edappadi K Palaniswami should resign. This is also what the people want.

Thousands of protestors went on a rampage demanding the closure of a Sterlite’s industrial plant in the city on May 22, citing that the pollution it generates is causing serious health issues.

To control the situation police resorted to firing and lathi-charge which claimed 13 lives.

Defending the police action against protestors, Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswami had said the entire episode happened primarily because of opposition political parties, NGOs and anti-social elements, who took protestors to a wrong path.
