Mumbai, June 27: Actor Shah Rukh Khan, who has earlier expressed his interest in making a movie on Mahabharat, on Monday said he has been reading the epic for one-and-a-half years.
“I have been reading Mahabharat for one-and-a-half years. I like the stories in it. I narrate them for AbRam in a very exciting way,” he told the media after Eid celebrations at the Taj Lands End hotel in Mumbai.
“Similarly, I narrate to him stories from Islam. But I tell them as stories, and I hope they learn all religions on their own and respect them. They must also enjoy the fact that their traditions and beauty needs to be respected and loved.”
Speaking about his growing-up days, the ‘ Raees’ star said, “My parents introduced me to everything. It was a refugee colony where I lived. So my parents used to be equally happy if I used to go to Ramleela or for Eid celebrations. Those ways, you learn and respect and love each other because you learn each other’s religion on your own. So, I hope my children do the same. My memories and my thinking are for them!”
The superstar also talked about the Bollywood entry of Aryan and Suhana.
The “Dilwale” actor, who has always been protective about his family, said: “My children will first have to finish their studies. In my house, a person has to at least be a graduate or they won’t be allowed to enter the house. Suhana is still in Class 11. So she has five years of studies left. Aryan has four years left.
“Just because she makes public appearances does not mean that we are taking her out so that people will notice her and make her an actress. But the point is very clear that and I request everybody with love, I understand it is your job but they are not movie stars, they just happen to be a movie stars children and I think they are very respectful and decent. When they come out with me I make sure they stand with me and pose because I know it is meant to be important.”, he said.
“I request that if you see them publicly two things- first don’t assume that they can handle media frenzy because they get awkward too, and also don’t assume that they want to be actors. If they want to be an actor, they will have to study to be an actor. So there is a long way to go yaar,” he added.
The actor had completed 25 years in the industry this year and thanked the media for supporting him on the journey.
Currently, Shah Rukh is busy promoting his upcoming film “Jab Harry Met Sejal”, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film also stars Anushka Sharma and is slated to release on August 4.
