Jammu, Feb 14: The Srinagar-Jammu highway closed for the third consecutive day on Wednesday due to fresh landslides in Udhampur and Ramban districts.
A Traffic Department official said no traffic would be allowed on the highway following the landslides that took place on Kheri road in Udhampur and at the Anokhi Fall stretch in Ramban.
“Landslide clearance at both places is in progress. Intending travellers are requested to contact our control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar to know the latest status of the highway,” the official stated.
The nearly 300-km long highway is the lifeline for the land-locked Kashmir Valley as all essentials, including food grains, vegetables, edible oils, medicines and petroleum products reach to the city via this road.
