Srijan scam: Congress demands HC-monitored probe, Nitish Kumar’s resignation

Manish Tewari

New Delhi, Aug 23: The Congress on Wednesday sought for a high court-monitored probe into Bihar’s srijan scam and also demanded resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

Opposition party also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi that “Is it true that some ministers linked with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were involved in the scam.”

“Scam is estimated to be well over Rs 1,000 crore,” Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari told media.

The Congress further alleged that the scam took place when Sushil Kumar Modi was the Finance Minister of Bihar. “How is it possible that such a large amount of money kept going out and coming back into the system without any knowledge of Modi?

“Either he doesn’t know his job or all this happened under his eyes. His involvement in this can’t be completely ruled out neither can the involvement of CM Nitish Kumar be denied,” stated another Congress spokesperson Ajoy Kumar.

He said that Srijan was headed by Manorama Devi and it was suspected that she was linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and people close to Kumar.

The way ruling party BJP is misusing the CBI, only a high court-monitored probe can reveal the truth, stated Congress spokesperson

In Srijan scam,  NGO allegedly pilfered funds which was meant for the government’s welfare schemes from the private  bank accounts of the Bihar’s Bhagalpur district administration.
