Indore, June 12: Spiritual leader Bhayyuji Maharaj on Tuesday shot himself dead at his residence in Madhya Pradesh.
The 50-year-old self-styled godman died after he was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
“Bhaiyyuji Maharaj has shot himself at his residence at Khandwa Road here,” said Indore’s Deputy Inspector General Harinarayanachari Mishra, who had earlier termed the guru’s condition as critical and that doctors are monitoring the situation.
“we have seized the suicide note. In the suicide note, he has mentioned mental tension but the reason for the tension is not known as yet. We are investigating the case”, he added.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed grief over the sudden demise of Bhaiyyuji Maharaj and offered their condolences.
“Got to know about the sad demise of religious guru Bhaiyyuji Maharaj. I was having personal relations with him. I am saddened by his sudden demise. My tributes,” he tweeted.

Singh said in a tweet “My tribute to saint Bhayyuji Maharaj (who allegedly committed suicide). The country has lost a person who was a confluence of culture, knowledge and selfless service”.

As per media reports, Maharaj acted as a mediator during 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal.
Recently, Bhaiyyuji was also offered MoS rank by Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Chouhan.
