Sonia Gandhi leads Congress protest on the Maharashtra issue in Parliament premises

New Delhi, Nov 25: Leading party’s protest in Parliament premises over Maharashtra government formation issue,Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi said the midnight coup in Maharashtra by BJP is a “murder of the democracy”.
Shouting slogans that this is a “murder of the democracy,”Sonia Gandhi leads a protest outside Parliament with other party leaders against the Centre’s move of forming Mahrashtra government with NCP’s Ajit Pawar in a dramatic turn of events that spanned overnight.

The party MPs in Lok Sabha also stormed the well carrying placards to protest the swearing-in of Devendra Fadnavis-led government in the western state, leading to adjournment of House proceedings till noon.

Calling the midnight coup in which the BJP sought to form a government with Ajit Pawar a “murder of democracy”, Congress leaders like Anand Sharma and Adheer Choudhury raised slogans and held placards criticising the BJP.

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has alleged that women parliamentarians were “manhandled” in the Lok Sabha when they were protesting in the Well of the House over the Maharashtra government formation.

Congress members clashed with the marshals in the Lok Sabha when they stormed the Well of the House carrying placards to protest the swearing-in of a BJP-led government in Maharashtra. Speaker Om Birla ordered the removal of two Congress members Hibi Eden and T N Prathapan- who were holding a big banner with ‘stop murder of democracy slogan – by marshals. , leading to adjournment of Parliament proceedings.

Leading the Opposition charge against the Centre over Maharashtra, Congress’ Rahul Gandhi who was to ask the first question at the Lok Sabha during Question Hour today, says, ” I wanted to ask a question in the House but it doesn’t make any sense to ask a question right now as democracy has been murdered.”
