New Delhi, Feb 23: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday promised to give the status of martyrs to the soldiers of paramilitary forces , if his government voted to power.
“Soldiers of paramilitary forces should get the status of martyrs, if our government comes to power they will get that status”, Gandhi said during an interaction with university students in the national capital.
The Congress leader expressed his pain and told the students that “I recently visited the families of martyrs. In my journey to Shamli, I interacted with many youngsters, and many stated that they are not employed. We should solve the employment crisis to remove anger in the society”.
“While talking to the families of martyrs, I knew what it felt like to be where they were. My father too was blown to pieces and my grandmother was shot with 32 bullets”, he added.
The AICC Chief further said that those who have felt violence will never think of violence as a solution.
