New Delhi, Nov 3: Blaming the ruling BJP of targeting opposition leaders with the snooping software, Congress on Sunday alleged that the phone of senior leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also hacked with the use of the Israeli spyware Pegasus.
” Layers of BJP Govt’s conspiracy & collusion in the illegal & unconstitutional hacking of cell phones through surveillance software ‘Pegasus’ are unraveling everyday. BJP Govt is the deployer and executor of this illegal & unconstitutional snooping & spying racket,” Surjewala said.
At a press conference,Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala informed that Gandhi had received a message from the Facebook-owned messaging platform informing her that her phone had also been targeted with the snooping software at the same time that other users were notified.
Leveling serious accusations against the Modi government, Surjewala said,”The BJP government has been left exposed and the government is called as
#AbkiBaarJasoosSarkar” and the most shocking point is which broadband and internet has been corrupted through NSO .”
Dubbing BJP the “Bharatiya Jasoos Party”, Surjewala said, the government was silent on the issue “despite knowing about it”.
“On September 12, the IT Minister met the Vice-President of Facebook, but he didn’t raise the hacking issue… there was a mysterious silence,” he said.
Demanding that officials involved in this scam should be involved be punished.
