Renowned and Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha met separatist leaders on Tuesday with his five-member delegation in view of restoring peace in the valley and BJP said that it has nothing to do with it.
Following this, BJP has disowned the efforts of the senior leader and has distanced itself from the meeting between Hurriyat’s Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Yashwant Sinha. The BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma made his remarks on the same and Economic Times quoted him as “It is not a BJP delegation. BJP has nothing to do with this.”
The delegation on Wednesday called separatists leaders to talk regarding the current situation in Kashmir. Separatist leaders included Hurriyat’s Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Senior leader and opposition Farooq Abdullah has praised and welcomed Yashwant’s move. He hopes that this move will also help in the context of Kashmir issue.
“NC feels that the delegation headed by Sinha is a welcome move because it is a first step that someone has made an attempt to take Kashmir out of this morass. We all pray to God to make this attempt successful so that we come out of this difficult phase,” said Abdullah.
Shrikant Sharma rejected the claims made by media that it is a BJP delegation; he said that these claims are absolutely wrong. Sharma added that Sinha had taken up this matter to meet the Kashmiri separatist in his personal capacity.
Yashwant Sinha is a senior BJP leader and former Union Minister. He was in the cabinet of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The senior leader is full of experience and disowning his actions is not a worthy act. BJP has sidelined itself from this move, ignoring Yashwant’s capabilities and intelligence.
Unrest in Kashmir has been ongoing for almost four long months now; people are locked inside their own houses. So many have been killed and the curfew has affected the normal life in the valley. Earlier, we have witnessed the failed attempt of all party delegation to include separatist leaders in the peace discussion related to the unrest.
Sinha is working on an issue related to national interest and if BJP by distancing itself from this thinks that it is a repellent move made by the senior leader then it should take action against him or else it should stand by him, there cannot be a grey side to this matter. Sinha will submit the report of his meet to the Home Ministry.
