Shopian firing: SC extends interim protection of Major Aditya till August 21

New Delhi, July 30: The Supreme Court on Monday extended protection granted to Major Aditya in Shopian firing case till August 21.

The development took place while the apex court was hearing Lt Col Karamveer Singh’s (father of Major Aditya) plea.

Lt. Col. Karamveer Singh — a serving army officer and father of Major Aditya — is seeking the quashing of the FIR against his son.

Major Kumar and other soldiers of 10 Garhwal Rifles have been accused of opening fire and fatally injuring three civilians when a group of people pelted stone at the army convoy near Ganowpora village in Shopian district on January 27.
