New Delhi, May 30: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday hit out at the Election Commission (EC) and called it a ‘Tawaif’ (Mistress) of a political party.
Speaking to media, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut said ” Our people caught the BJP workers red handed distributing money during Palghar bypoll, but the poll panel did not take any action, if similar inaction is shown by the election commission across the country, then it means EC is acting like a ‘Tawaif'(Mistress) of a political party”.

Raut’s remarks come days after his party chief Uddhav Thackeray released a video of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asking BJP workers to use all possible means to attain victory in the Palghar Lok Sabha seat, where the polling took place on May 28.
However, the BJP later alleged that the video clip has been tampered.
The Palghar Lok Sabha by-poll was necessitated after the death of Chintaman Wanga, the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) of the BJP.
The By-Elections to four Lok Sabha seats and nine assembly constituencies were held on May 28 across India.
Assembly bypolls took place in Noorpur (Uttar Pradesh), Shahkot (Punjab), Jokihat (Bihar), Gomia and Silli (Jharkhand), Chengannur (Kerala), Palus Kadegaon (Maharashtra), Ampati (Meghalaya), Tharali (Uttarakhand) and Maheshtala (West Bengal).
The Counting of votes is scheduled to be held tomorrow.
