Shehla Masood murder case: Life imprisonment awarded to 4, 1 acquitted

Madhya Pradesh, 28 Jan: The four culprits awarded life term imprisonment while one acquitted in the widely known Shehla Masood murder case on Saturday.

In court’s verdict, the four culprits Zahida Parvez, Saba Farukhi, Shakib and Tabish were awarded life term jail while Government witness Irfan was acquitted.

Shehla Masood, RTI activist was shot dead around 11:19 AM on 16 August 2011 by three persons.

Shehla was the one who sat on a fast in support of Anna Hazare’s India Against Corruption campaign. She was actively involved in raising issues related to the deaths of tigers in the various sanctuaries of Madhya Pradesh.

Central Bureau of Investigation who was probing the case soon arrested a Bhopal-based woman interior designer Mrs Zahida Parvez and three accomplices who were hired to kill Masood.shehla1The motive behind the murder was love triangle as Shehla was obsessed and very close links with a Bhopal BJP MLA Dhruv Narayan Singh and hence Zahida decided to eliminate her and hired assailants to kill her.

The interior designer’s employee and friend who presumably had information about the murder plan was arrested on 2 March 2012.

The interior designer had given the contract to Bhopal-based criminal Saqib ‘Danger’, known for his links with the local BJP party in Madhya Pradesh, who further contracted it to Tabish(his cousin) based in Kanpur.
