Sharmila launches her new party, to become Manipur’s CM


Rights activist Irom Sharmila on Monday launched her party named as ‘People’s Resurgence Justice Alliance (PRJA).’ She made the announcement regarding the same in Imphal.

Sharmila wants to contest the Manipur Assembly elections which are scheduled for next year. With her desire to contest elections, she broke her long 16 years fast in August.

After when she broke her fast, Sharmila had expressed that she wants to become the Chief Minister of Manipur so that she can repeal AFSPA in the state.

Earlier in September, Sharmila also met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to seek his guidance on defeating the major political parties in Manipur. Irom Sharmila also expressed that she wants to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek political advice from him.

Sharmila is still stable on her demand to repeal AFSPA in Manipur. Thus, she announced her party and announced that she would take her battle to the next level via contesting elections to “press” for her demands.
