In a shameless manner, The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president in Uttar Pradesh Dayashankar Singh on Wednesday raised a controversy by comparing BSP chief Mayawati to a sex worker.

Lashing out at former UP Chief Minister, Mayawati, BJP’s Dayashankar said, “Mayawati was breaking the dream of Kashiram into pieces and the way she is distributing tickets in exchange of money even prostitute don’t behave like that. While giving example Singh said that in morning If somebody offers her Rs 1 crore she will give him the ticket but if someone offers her Rs 3 crore in the evening she will cancel the name of the previous candidate and give it to him. Worst than the prostitutes who are more loyal to her customer.”

Reacting on Dayashankar statement, BSP supermo said that “These kind of derogatory remarks show that BJP is frustrated with the growing public support for BSP.”

On the other hand, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in the Rajya Sabha that “I am personally hurt that a BJP party person used such derogatory words against Mayawati.”

While, BSP has demanded arrest and Rajya Sabha faces the ruckus in the house over Dayashankar Singh’s comment.

Later, former Chief Minister of UP said in the upper house of Parliament that she has dedicated her life for the downtrodden and expresses thanks to Arun Jaitley and other leaders of opposition parties who condemned the remarks made by BJP leader Dayashankar Singh.

Mayawati added that the BJP leader has abused “his sister and daughter” by using derogatory language against her.

She also reacted to the accusations that she sells tickets to party workers. “Ek vote aur ek note… if our supporters pay us, we won’t depend on corporates for donations,” Mayawati said.

Dayashankar Singh should be arrested otherwise, if in response to this people get violent, it will not be on my conscience,” Mayawati told the Upper House.

After facing criticism on his statement, Dayashankar Singh has apologized for his derogatory remarks on Mayawati. “I apologize for the remark I made.”

Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Friday alleged that she has been “illegally detained yet again” and denied permission to visit a party leader in Pulwama district.

She also alleged that her daughter Iltija has been placed under house arrest.

“I’ve been illegally detained yet again. Since 2 days, J&K administration has refused to allow me to visit party leader
Waheed Ur Rehman’s family in Pulwama. He was arrested on baseless charges. Even my daughter placed under house arrest (sic),” Mufti said in a tweet.

“Their cruelty knows no bounds. Waheed was arrested on baseless charges & I am not allowed to even console his family. Even my daughter Iltija has been placed under house arrest because she also wanted to visit Waheed’s family (sic),” she added.

The former chief minister will hold a press conference at 3 pm today on various issues. Mehbooba was released on October 14 after being in detention from August 5 last year following the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile state.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had on Wednesday arrested, Waheed Parra, the youth wing president of PDP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit, in connection with a terror case.

Parra, who recently filed his nomination for the District Development Council (DDC) elections from Pulwama in South Kashmir, was being questioned at the NIA headquarters here since Monday for his alleged involvement with the Hizbul Mujahideen terror group.

“Today NIA arrested Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, the youth wing leader of People’s Democratic Party, in connection with the Naveed Babu-Davinder Singh case for supporting Hizbul Mujahideen in conspiracy with the other accused persons,” NIA’s spokesperson had said.

Wrong to prevent farmers from holding peaceful demonstrations: Kejriwal

Thousands of farmers have been marching to Delhi from Punjab and Haryana protesting against the laws that liberalise the agriculture sector

Farmers Protest

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday showed his support to the farmers who are protesting against the three farm laws passed in the Parliament in September, and said that they should be allowed to stage a peaceful protest.

“The three farm bills of the central government are anti-farmer. Instead of rolling back these bills, farmers are being stopped from staging peaceful protests. Water cannons are being used against them. This is injustice to the farmers. Peaceful protest is their constitutional right,” said Kejriwal in a tweet on Thursday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had voted against the Bills in both Lok Sabha (where it has one MP) and Rajya Sabha (where it has three MPs).

Thousands of farmers have been marching to Delhi from Punjab and Haryana protesting against the laws that liberalise the agriculture sector. While some groups were stopped in Haryana on Wednesday and water cannons used against them, several others continue to approach Delhi to stage a protest. The Delhi Police has issued a notice prohibiting any gathering in the Capital, citing Covid-19 regulations and the Delhi Metro has temporarily closed operation on certain routes.

The three laws that have led to widespread protests are the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.
