Mumbai, Aug 23: Senior Congress leader Gurudas Kamat’s funeral will take place in Mumbai on Thursday.
Maharastra Chief Minister Deverndra Fadnavis, Ministers Vinod Tawde, Prakash Mehta were present.
The mortal remains of Kamat is kept at his residence in Chembur for people to pay their last respects.
Earlier in the morning, Maharastra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ministers Vinod Tawde, Prakash Mehta paid floral tributes to the former minister.
The 63-year-old leader passed away at the Primus Hospital in Delhi following a heart attack on Wednesday.
United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi visited the hospital.
Later his body was flown to Mumbai last night and the funeral process began today at this home.
Kamat is survived by wife Maharookh and son Sunil.
He stepped into politics as a student leader in NSUI.
The youthful face of the Congress party, a five-time MP from Mumbai North-East Lok Sabha constituency, served as Union Minister of State for Home in 2009.
