Selfie helped in solving theft case of 22 lakh in Delhi Metro


Delhi, 14 Dec: We always heard incidents of selfies where it turned into casualties but in this incident, selfie helped to bust a gang of robbers.

The CISF busted a women gang of robbers who used to stole valuables from the metro passengers. The gang stole a bag containing 22 lakh from an NRI and fled away.

California living software engineer Neelam filed a complaint on 9 December of theft.

Neelam in her complaint informed that her bag filled with jewellery worth Rs 22 lakh was stolen near Central Secretariat when she was travelling in a metro with her husband.


CISF soon started an investigation to chase the thieves. With the help of Selfie taken by the woman the accused were nabbed and all the jewellery and stolen valuables were recovered as during the probe, they found that one of the members of the gang was seen in the picture taken by Neelam while capturing a selfie.

CISF detained the woman and questioned her. The woman admitted the crime and  revealed that there are 5 other women also who are involved in the gang. The kingpin of the gang was a woman named Kamla.

Three woman personnel were also awarded for solving the case.
