SC stays Madras HC order to waive loans of Tamil Nadu farmers

July 3, New Delhi : Supreme Court today stayed Madras High Court order to waive loans of Tamil Nadu farmers.

A vacation Bench chaired by Justice Madan B. Lokur issued notice to put a stay on Madras High Court directive.

Last month, the high court passed the order to waive off all agricultural loans after the state farmers protested at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for more than 30 days demanding Rs 40,000 crore assistance from the Central government.
