SC refuses to hear Cong plea to verify 25% of VVPAT paper trail with EVM votes

New Delhi ,15th December: Supreme Court on Friday (15th December) dismisses Congress’ plea seeking directions to EC to count & cross verify at least 25% of VVPAT paper trail with EVM votes. Supreme Court said that it finds no merit in Congress’ plea, adds that Gujarat Congress can approach SC through filing a writ petition for electoral reforms.

Gujarat Congress secretary has approached Supreme Court to match 25% VVPAT paper trails with EVM votes of Gujarat general assembly elections . Congress Party’s Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhavi appeared in court for Congress.

This is a big step by Congress ahead of Gujarat assembly results on 18th December.
