New Delhi, Nov 15: The Supreme Court on Tuesday sent notice to the Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government after a plea was filed against a state law that allows accommodation to former Chief Ministers on their request.
Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre issued the notice following a plea filed by NGO Lok Prahari challenging the amended law.
The NGO was represented by its General Secretary and former bureaucrat S.N. Shukla.
Apparently, the amended law was brought to nullify the apex court’s order that restricted the allotment of bungalows to former Chief Ministers.
The court directed six former Chief Ministers to vacate their bungalows.
