SC directs Bombay HC to accelerate probe on Jiah Khan suicide case


The Supreme Court on Tuesday told Bombay High Court to investigate the Jiah Khan suicide case quickly and set to told the next hearing on June 7th.

In a plea to the apex court, Jiah Khan’s mother, Rabia Amin accused the trial court of hearing the matter in the absence of a special public prosecutor.

The actor’s mother also asked the top court to order a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to continue with the inquiry.

Earlier, Special Public Prosecutor Dinesh Tiwari complained that the CBI had not made much progress in the last one and a half year in the murder case. Talking to media, Tiwari said that there were several loopholes in the chargesheet related to the suicide case.

Jiah Khan was found hanging in her Juhu apartment on June 3, 2013. Sooraj Pancholi has been charged with abetment to Khan’s suicide under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Jiah’s case has witnessed several developments over the last few days, and has opened up a can of worms as far as the late actor’s life is concerned.
