Sajjan Kumar resigns from Congress


New Delhi, Dec 18: A day after Sajjan Kumar was convicted in an anti-Sikh riot case, the leader on Tuesday resigned from the primary membership of the Congress Party.

In this regard, Kumar wrote a letter to Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

“I tender my resignation with immediate effect from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress in the wake of the judgement of the honourable High Court of Delhi against me”,  he said.

On Monday, the High Court overturned a lower court’s judgement to acquit Kumar and convicted him for his role in the riots.

The High Court sentenced him life imprisonment.

According to the reports, Kumar may challenge the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court
