At least 24 newborn babies have died in a fire that broke out at a Baghdad hospital Wednesday morning, Iraqi health officials reported.
A Baghdad hospital on Wednesday morning was caught under fire in which more than 20 newborn babies died, Iraqi health official reported.
According to the sources, the accident occurred when a fire broke out in the maternity wards of Yarmouk Hospital.
Iraqi health ministry in a statement said that, “After a fire broke out at one of the maternity wards at the Yarmouk Hospital in Baghdad, an Oxygen capsule detonated at the ward as a result the babies got burned and died.”
The rescuers were able to save 29 women and at least 7 other babies and were transferred to other hospital.
According to the investigation, it has come out that the accident might have caused by the electrical failures.
