Mumbai, April 14: Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday while talking about his upcoming movie “Sachin: A Billion Dreams” said it is not just about cricket but about his personality which people are not aware of it.

The legendary cricketer, who was present at the trailer launch of the film at PVR Juhu, expressed his overwhelming moment of winning the cricket world cup in 2011 was the most memorable moment of his 24-year-long career.

Watch the trailer here:

“I was 10 when India won the world cup in 1983. Since then I only had one dream and that was to win the world cup. On April 2, 2011 that dream came true. So without any doubt it is my most memorable moment.”

The director of the flick James Erskine said: “I wanted to make Sachin’s story since a long time and I didn’t know how to collaborate but then Ravi (producer) came to me and talked about this project, it was like telling India’s story through one man.”

When asked about his views on Sachin’s legacy, James said: “I have seen, how Sachin is looked upon, in England so I can imagine how he is in India.”

Sachin shared the most interesting part of his world cup memory. He said: “I remember my daughter saying ‘the whole Mumbai and the country is celebrating the victory. It took hours for us to reach Taj hotel from Wankhede stadium’.”

“Sachin: A Billion Dreams” will see the cricketer in the lead role. The film is directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka with a touch of Oscar winning music composer A.R. Rahman.

The movie is slated to be screened on May 26, 2017.

Akshaye Khanna, Richa Chadha to star in film on misuse of rape laws

Akshaye Khanna, Richa Chadha

Mumbai, Feb 17: Actors Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha will feature in “Section 375”, a Bollywood suspense drama highlighting misuse of rape laws in the country.

Backed by Panorama Studios, the movie will be produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak and directed by Manish Gupta.

Announcing the new project producer Abhishek Pathak tweeted late Friday, “Our next with #AkshayeKhanna & @richachadha_ #Section375 panorama_studios kumarmangatpathak https://www.instagram.com/p/BfSTedBFOrI/ .”

“Rape laws are being misused by men and women alike leaving the judiciary and police confused as to which rape case is genuine and which is fake,” Film’s director, Gupta said in a statement.

The story of the film revolves around a rape case that is so ambiguous in nature that the judges are unable to decide whether the incident was a rape or was it merely consensual sex.

In the film, the accused’s defence lawyer, played by Akshaye, and the public prosecutor, played by Richa, lock horns in a court, each producing irrefutable evidence about their own client’s innocence and the guilt of the other party, thereby leaving the judges puzzled about the truth.

As part of the research for the movie, Gupta attended several hearings in court for two years.

“There are special courts with female judges who only hear rape cases. I have also met survivors, their families, alleged rapists and lawyers representing both sides. It’s very disturbing not only for the accused and the survivors but also their families,” Gupta said.

Rekha Asha Bhosle

Mumbai, Feb 17: It was an emotional and heart-warming moment when veteran actress Rekha bowed down to touch Asha Bhosle’s feet as the legendary singer was feted with the Yash Chopra Memorial Award here.

Rekha Asha Bhosle

Both the divas — dressed in gold saris — lit up the stage with their elegance and poise at the event, organised by T. Subbarami Reddy in association with Anu Ranjan and Shashi Ranjan, here on Friday night.

Catch up time for Asha and Rekha.

Asha Bhosle greets fans and the media.

Rekha is as lovely as ever.

Bhosle, 84, whose illustrious music career spans nearly seven decades and recorded over 11,000 songs in 20 different languages, was selected for the award instituted in the memory of the filmmaker.

The award includes Rs 10 lakh along with a ‘SwarnKangan’ and a trophy.

Asha Bhosle is presented with the Yash Chopra Memorial Award.

Asha said: “Yashji was like my younger brother. It is unfortunate that he isn’t here anymore. I had a long association of close to 50 years with him, even before he was married. Once I complemented him on his choice of songs and melodies and told him that his ear for music has greatly improved with time.

“That’s when Yashji told me, ‘I will tell you the secret of that if you won’t share it with anyone – actually my wife Pam (Pamela Chopra) decides the songs in the movies’. So I told him no wonder his taste in music has got better. It is an emotional moment for me to receive this honour in his name and I feel a tinge of sadness that he is not here to share it with me.”

Rekha, the chief guest along with Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao, felicitated 84-year-old Asha as the fifth recipient of the award.

The previous recipients of the Yash Chopra Memorial Award were Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Shah Rukh Khan.

Rekha felicitates Asha Bhosle.

The actress said: “I am here because of two people I love very much — and those are Yashji and Asha tai… What should I talk about Asha tai? It’s like showing light to the Sun. She is an integral part of me, that’s what I believe, but I didn’t know that when I was a child.

“When I came into the industry and when she started singing for me, that’s when I realized this is what it meant to be part of somebody so beautifully… I don’t have any words to express my love and gratitude towards her.”

Rekha shares her memories of Asha Bhosle.

Asha has sung many songs for Rekha in her films.

Sharing their cinematic association, Rekha said, “I want to thank Asha tai for pouring the soul into my performances and for being the voice of whatever I have done in the films because without Asha tai and her feelings, I would have never been able to dance like that, to be able to sing like that and to be able to bring that look in my eyes.

“I remember, Asha tai once met me in Raj Kapoor’s party and literally instructed me to perform better in songs of ‘Umrao Jaan’ as she sung all my songs in that film. So when I was shooting for ‘Dil cheez kya hai’ or ‘In aankhon ki masti’, that time I was only remembering instructions of Asha tai. So whatever you have seen of me in that film is all because of her”.

On the life lessons she has taken from Asha, Rekha said: “As a person, I learned one thing from Asha tai that irrespective of tough and good times, sail through the phase with a smiling face. I wish she lives till the time this mankind is existing.”

The event also saw Parineeti Chopra, Padmini Kolhapure, Poonam Dhillon, Alka Yagnik, Jackie Shroff and Jaya Prada in attendance.
