Sabarimala verdict: Devotees organise ‘Ayyappa Nama Japa Yatra’ in protest

Trivandrum, Oct 9: The devotees of Lord Ayyappa devotees on Tuesday organised ‘Ayyappa Nama Japa Yatra’ to Raj Bhavan in protest against Supreme Court verdict over women’s entry in Sabarimala Temple.

On September 28, the Supreme Court allowed the entry of the women in the 10-50 age group in the Sabarimala temple dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, saying the ban violated their fundamental rights and constitutional guarantees.

Last week, to protest against the judgement, several supporters of various Hindu organisations took to the streets in various cities of the South Indian State.

The largest agitation was witnessed at Pandalam, where members of the Pandalam royal family, along with a number of men and women walked to the Veliye Koyikal Temple at Pandalam while singing hymns.
