September 13: Ahead of UP assembly elections, the top leaders of RSS have asked Sangh members and affiliates to either halt or refrain from “activities” that could “trigger violence or create controversy” and tag “BJP as a communal party,” reported a national newspaper.
VHP leader Pravin Togadia also said on Tuesday that VHP will not launch any agitation to build a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya till assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh get over next year. The statement from Tagodia confirms the stress in BJP campaign over the rising unpopularity of the party among non Hindu communities.
He also emphasized on the vision of Vishwa Hindu Parishad on the disputed site of Ram temple and said VHP is committed to build a mammoth Ram temple at the site where the 16th century Babri mosque was razed in December 1992. “A grand Ram temple in Ayodhya will be constructed. It is a fact,” he said.
Earlier, VHP also halted its campaign in UP to survey the cause of migration of Hindu population. Hindi Jagran Manch has also decided to postpone Anti Love Jihad campaign till the poll concludes in Uttar Pradesh.
However the VHP member maintains that the survey is active in other places. Initial results of W. Bengal show that Hindu population has depleted in at least 8 regions. The survey is bound to cover 17 states and dig out reasons for Hindu relocation.
