AHMEDABAD, 5 Dec: After businessman Mahesh Shah disclosed amount of Rs 13,860 crore under the IDS, Ahmedabad police triggered a controversy on Sunday by disguising the businessman in police uniform while escorting him from one place to another.
Soon after the public uproar, police commissioner, AK Singh asked details of the incident.
According to the sources, while escorting Shah in a PCR van from his daughter’s house in Satellite locality to his flat, inspector of Satellite police station MU Masi, without consulting his seniors, made Shah wear the police uniform.
Masi claimed that he was dressed in Police uniform for security reasons. “Once he was in the police vehicle, he only wore a jacket with ‘police’ written on it,” Masi said.
The controversy emerged after shah went away from the I-T office on Ashram road to his daughter’s flat on Sunday morning.
Senior police officers said Shah was being provided tight security because of his sensational claim that he acted as a front to convert black money into white for influential politiians and industrialists.
Meanwhile, the income tax officers have continued their probe.
