Dr. Shailesh Pethe (veterinarian  ) said, the tiger  Palash  had been on saline for four days, but chances of its survival were unsure  due to renal failure. Tiger, being a carnivorous animal, consumes  a  very high amount of protein.

A postmortem was conducted yesterday and the exact cause of death would be known after  the results that are expected in a couple of days, an official of the national park said. The funeral service was taken up in the park itself.

Palash was the second eldest tiger at the park after 16-year-old male albino tiger “Bajirao”.
