Restaurant owner crushed to death after dispute over parking in Rohini

New Delhi, March 16: A 39-year-old businessman was brutally squashed by a car by two unidentified persons after a brawl over parking in west Delhi, police said on Thursday.

According to the Police, the incident took place on Wednesday evening at around 5.30 p.m when the deceased, Tarun Gupta, went into a verbal argument with two persons as they parked their car in front of his restaurant in Rohini Sector 22.

“One of the accused persons went to purchase some articles from a nearby shop, while another one was seated inside the car. When Tarun Gupta asked one of them to park the car at the next shop, where they were doing the shopping, they instead started a heated argument,” a senior police officer said.

Soon some local shopkeepers started gathering at the spot, both the accused tried to escape. In the meanwhile, they first hit a bike from their car and then crushed Gupta under its wheels when he tried to stop the car, the officer added.

Gupta, a resident of Karala village of Rohini Sector 22 was taken to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“We are examining the CCTV footage of the nearby shops to ascertain the identity of the accused persons who managed to flee the spot,” the police officer added.

Gupta was running his restaurant on the ground floor of his residence.

Food poisoning kills 4, at least 70 hospitalised in Maharashtra

Raigad (Maharashtra), June 19: At least four people were killed due to suspected food-poisoning after a house-warming dinner here, news agency IANS quoted police official as saying on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the new home of Subhash Mane, who had organised a vaastu-shanti pooja in Mahad village, followed by the celebratory dinner on Monday night, a Raigad Police spokesman said.

After the dinner, many people complained of stomach aches, suddenly started vomiting incessantly and were rushed to nearby private clinics and hospitals, the report said.

Mahad village in Khalapur is around 75 kms from Mumbai.

Of the 70 others still admitted to the hospital, the condition of at least five is described as critical, IANS quoted the spokesperson as saying.

Meanwhile, the  case has been registered as further investigations are underway.

New Delhi, June 19: The national capital woke up to a partly cloudy morning on Tuesday but the sky is likely to be mainly clear in the day ahead, the weather office said.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.5 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season’s average, a scientist at India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The air-quality across the National Capital Region (NCR) was moderate on Tuesday morning, according to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 39 degrees Celsius.

The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 67 per cent.

Monday’s maximum temperature was 36.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 28.2 degrees Celsius, the season’s average.

Bihar: 6 children killed as car falls into pond in Ararriya

Patna, June 19: At least six children lost their lives after the SUV they were travelling into fell into a pond in  Ararriya’s Tarabadi on Tuesday morning.

According to news agency ANI, one person has been rescued from the accident spot.

Last week , four women were killed and eight others were wounded in a collision on National Highway-28 in Samastipur district.
