Remove your bangles; take action against Pakistan: Kapil Sibal

Published

on

New Delhi: Following the ceasefire violation  and mutilation of two Indian soldiers who were earlier killed by Pakistani Army in Poonch, senior congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP slammed the Modi government for its directionless policy towards Pakistan. He advised the government to do away with bonhomie and demanded strict action against Pakistan.

He said that while the Congress party condemns this attack in the strongest possible terms, the Prime Minister needs be reminded of his statements before the Lok Sabha elections when similar attacks took place. Going by those statements, we were hopeful that Pakistan would be given a befitting reply.

Sibal said that the Congress party had supported the government on surgical strikes and the Prime Minister has assured that these attacks would not happen after the strikes. However, that hope has now turned into despair, as such incidents are now taking place on a daily basis.

When a similar incident took place during the UPA regime, a BJP MP wanted to gift bangles to the then prime minister.  “Will she now do the same and send bangles to Prime Minister Modi” Sibal asked.

Attacking the Prime Minister and the NDA government, he said that even after knowing well that it  is not going to mend its ways, the government has been trying to embrace Pakistan. Taking a pot-shot at Modi, he said, the PM invites the ISI through the JIT to India, celebrates Nawaj Sharif’s birthday in Pakistan, and invites him for his inauguration even when that country has nothing but intense hatred towards India.

Citing figures on terrorist violence, civilian and security personnel fatalities Sibal said that there has been a marked increase in civilian and security personnel causalities since Modi government took over.

Sibal said that while Pakistani Army came 250 metres inside Indian territory and killed two our jawans, the government is busy celebrating Vijay Diwas in Delhi, which is highly deplorable. He said that this makes it apparent that NDA government has no clear policy towards Pakistan at all.

New US Visa Rules, huge setback for India: Rahul

Published

on

New Delhi, April 26: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday termed the proposed US visa rules as a “huge setback” for India.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress leader said “some things a hug can buy”, but for visas “you’re on your own”.

Gandhi tweeted, “New US Visa Rules, a huge setback for India…as Foreign Policy by Modi, Foreword by Trump”

His remarks come amid Donald Trump’s government plan to propose to end giving work permits to the spouses of H1-B visa holders to work in America, a decision that could have a devastating impact on scores of Indians.

Besides this, global entrepreneurs will not be able to apply for parole to nurture their startups for a certain period.

According to the reports, both of these Obama-era policies will be revoked in a bid to clinch the objectives of ‘Buy American, Hire Amercian’.

PILs filed in Judge Loya case were politically motivated: Sibal

Published

on

New Delhi, April 26: Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Thursday said the PILs filed in Judge Loya case were politically-motivated.

Addressing a press conference, the former Union Minister stated ” After the investigation of Judge Loya case, there were several PILs lodged. But by the recent SC judgement, PILs have been considered to be politically-motivated”.

Sibal claimed that a PIL was filed in Nagpur bench by Suraj Lolage, who is an RSS ideologue, on 27 November 2017. Lolage had contested for a BJP ticket in Municipal elections.

“After the press conference in AICC on 30 Jan 2018, a phone conversation between Suraj Lolage and Satish Uke’s brother revealed that Lolage’s petition intended to elevate Judge Loya case to the apex court, where independent probe was rejected”, he added.

The Congress leader further stated that “What does this show? Clearly, Bhaiyyaji Joshi and the RSS were very keen that this matter be heard in the Supreme Court as quickly as possible because they are the ones who initiated the PIL.

Sibal cited two possibilities either RSS’s Bhaiyyaji Joshi wanted that an enquiry into Judge Loya’s death be conducted or wanted an outcome which ensures that the matter is closed without an enquiry.
