Mumbai-based Raphael Samuel has decided to take his parents to court for giving him birth.

“If life is imposed on me, then I should also have the right to death. If I don’t have that right, I should at least have a right to maintenance”, he told media.

“I’ll sue my parents and make it a legal right for a child”, the 27-year-old said.

This kind of thought follows the ideology of Antinatalism or anti-natalism, a philosophical position that assigns a negative value to birth.

Samuel also took his Facebook page “Nihilanand”, to explain his decision. In a video, he said: “I want everyone in the world to realise that they are born without their consent, I want them to understand that they don’t owe their parents anything.”

In another post, Samuel’s mother Kavita Karnad Samuel shared her views regarding his idea.

“I must admire my son’s temerity to want to take his parents to court knowing both of us are lawyers. If Raphael could come up with a rational explanation as to how we could have sought his consent to be born, I will accept my fault”, she wrote in a post.
