Rape Charges framed against Tarun Tejpal; pleads not guilty

Goa, Sept 28: Charges are framed and have been explained to Tarun Tejpal. He has pleaded not guilty to the rape charge, said Francisco Taviera, Public Prosecutor.

Tarun Tejpal has pleaded guilty to charges under sections 341, 342, 354 A&B, 376 sub section 2, F&K, said Francisco Taviera, Public Prosecutor.

Tejpal has been accused of raping and assaulting a colleague in 2013.

Tejpal challenged the framing of charges against him by the Additional North Goa District and Sessions court. The Panaji bench of the Bombay High Court dismissed Tejpal’s plea and directed that the trial could begin only after the consent of the High Court.

The incident allegedly took place in the elevator of a hotel in north Goa during a conference in November 2013.

Next hearing in the rape case against him on 21st November.
