New, April 6: Actor Ranveer Singh is in the process of “becoming the hurricane” under the training of iconic cricketer Kapil Dev for the upcoming film “83”, a Bollywood entertainer on India’s historical 1983 Cricket World Cup win.
Ranveer on Saturday tweeted a photograph of himself along with Dev. The two can be seen sporting the Indian cricket team’s blue jersey and can be seen talking to each other.
Ranveer captioned the image, “Becoming the Hurricane.”
The actor posted another photo, in which it appears the cricketer is giving some tips to Ranveer, the actor wrote: “LEGEND.”

Presented by Reliance Entertainment, “83” is directed by Kabir Khan, and will see Ranveer Singh playing Kapil Dev.
In an earlier interview, when Ranveer was asked about his reaction on being offered the role of Kapil Dev, he said, “I was born at the time when cricket was big time. When Kabir Sahab (director Kabir Khan) had come to me and said that there will be a film on 83, I was like finally. And when he was narrating it to me, I was like woooh. It is not a story just about cricket but a human story.”
“83” follows how, under newly-appointed captain Kapil Dev, the Indian cricket team defeated West Indies in the final of the World Cup in 1983. It tracks the coming-of-age of not just a cricketing team but of a young nation in the eyes of the world.
Apart from Ranveer, the cast also includes Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Hardy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Chirag Patil. The film’s shoot begins in May.
“83” is scheduled to release on April 10, 2020.
