Ram Temple row: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Ayodhya, says environment positive for talks


Lucknow, Nov 16: In a bid to mediate the long-simmering Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Mosque dispute, Spiritual leader  Sri Sri Ravi Shankar arrived in Ayodhya and held meetings with stakeholders. 

Addressing media after the meetings, he said environment is positive, people want to come out of this conflict. I know it is not easy, let me talk to everyone but it is too early to reach a conclusion, reported news agency ANI.

On his arrival, he is expected to meet the head of the Ram Janma Bhoomi Nyaas, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das at Maniram Chawni, and later hold deliberations with Ram Vilas Vedanti and Iqbal Ansari.

Yesterday, Shankar met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and held  30-minute talk at latter’s residence.

During the meeting, the Art of Living founder briefed the Chief Minister about his initiative to try thrash out a mutually acceptable formula into the issue out of court.

Last month, Shankar called on the Shia Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi regarding the matter. After the meeting, Rizvi said the entire nation respected the AoL founder and that the Shia community was of the view that the dispute should be resolved amicably and not by confrontation.
