New Delhi, 1 August:  AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa, who  had a controversy after she claimed she slapped DMK MP ‘Tiruchi Siva’, on Monday at t Delhi airport , made a statement on the episode.

My life is under threat, I am being compelled to resign from my post said the MP from TN she said during the monsoon session.

Ms. Pushpa told fewdays back to media that she “slapped” Tiruchi Siva as he allegedly made offensive remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Following this, the DMK and AIADMK summoned their respective MPs. Both haven’t given any public statement. But on Monday, Ms. Pushpa wanted to make a statement in the Rajya Sabha.

The opposition Congress members  supported Pushpa  and demanded  that she be allowed to speak freely as it was a serious issue. Kurien said it was unnecessary charge against the Chair to say he had not allowed Pushpa to speak. “She came to the Well and wept, that’s why I allowed her. I understood her emotions. I did not prevent it. All I said is that the Chairman is the custodian of all members, and he will protect here also. Pressurising me like this is not good, that too under a wrong impression,” he said.

When she was allowed to speak further, Pushpa said, “I want to thank my leader, as she gave me this post. But if a leader can slap an MP….I need the government’s protection. They are compelling me to resign. Why should I resign? I want to serve my country.”

Supplementary demands tabled(Lok sabha)
