Rajya Sabha adjourned till Wednesday, opposition refuses to leave

New Delhi, Jan 8: The Rajya Sabha was on Tuesday adjourned for the day even as the opposition members refused to leave the House and staged demonstration against the governments “unilateral” decision to extend the ongoing session till Wednesday.

While the House was adjourned, opposition members refused to leave the House and staged demonstration and conducted a mock Parliament.

Earlier, The Rajya Sabha was on Tuesday adjourned till 2 p.m., minutes after it met for the day.

After the papers had been tabled, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu announced that he had rejected the notices received under Rule 267 (suspension of business).

“I will admit them if they are given under normal rules,” he said.

Meanwhile, some opposition members were on their feet and a few moved towards the Chair’s podium.

Naidu adjourned the House till 2 p.m.
