Amid tension with Pakistan for creating unrest in Kashmir,Home Minister Rajnath Singh will travel to Islamabad on Wednesday to attend a summit of SAARC.India has accused Pakistan of creating unrest in Kashmir after the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani.
Rajnath said, “Whatever is happening in Kashmir is Pakistan-sponsored. The name is ‘Pakistan’, but its acts are na-pak (impure). They do not have to worry about Muslims of this country. People of India will look after Muslims of India.” Referring to demands for ‘plebiscite’, he ruled it out, saying it is “outdated” and people of Kashmir are being “misguided” on this issue.
Singh will be accompanied by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and several other senior officers of the Home Ministry.
The meeting will also focus on strengthening networking among police authorities of SAARC member-countries and also enhance information-sharing among law enforcement agencies.
The last meeting of SAARC Interior/Home Ministers’ conference was held in Kathmandu in 2014 when the Home Minister had said that member-nations of the group were facing common challenges and they should cooperate with each other to address them.
