Rains likely in Delhi

New Delhi, July 10: It was a partly cloudy sky in the national capital on Tuesday with the minimum temperature recorded at 29.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average, the weather office said.

The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 78 percent.

“It will be a generally cloudy sky towards the afternoon or evening with light rains or thundershowers,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The maximum temperature was likely to hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature on Monday settled at 40.1 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season’s average and the minimum was recorded at 30.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average.

“The Safdarjung observatory recorded no rainfall in the last 24 hours, while the Ridge area received 4 mm and Narela 10 mm,” the IMD official said.

The Met has predicted good rainfall from July 11 for three days.

6 killed in Maharashtra road accident

Hingoli, Sep 21: At least six people were killed and two injured after a truck rammed into a car in Higoli district of Maharashtra.

The accident took place on late Thursday at Hingoli- Washim highway, leading to traffic congestion on early Friday morning.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident, four persons died and 10 injured in a collision between two vehicles on Sri Madhopur-Jorawar Nagar roadway in Rajasthan.

Light rains likely in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 21: It was a mainly clear sky on Friday morning in the national capital with the minimum temperature recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season’s average, with light rains predicted for the day ahead.

“The sky will get cloudy towards the afternoon with light rains/ thundershowers likely to occur,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The maximum temperature was likely to hover around 34 degrees Celsius, he said, adding that the humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 79 per cent.

Thursday’s maximum temperature settled at 35.7 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season’s average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season’s average.

New Delhi, Sep 21 : Delhi Police on Thursday arrested six persons, including a domestic help, for assaulting, robbing and holding captive the wife and daughter of a former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court here.

“The accused have been identified as Dinesh, Dheerender, Upender Rai, Ram Swaroop, Deepak and domestic help Sandeep. They were arrested from different areas of their native state Jharkhand,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal.

The incident occurred on Monday night when their recently hired domestic help Sandeep called the other accused to the former Chief Justice Dalip Kapoor’s residence in New Friends Colony.

The accused allegedly assaulted and held captive wife and daughter of the former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and later escaped with jewellery and cash, Biswal said.

“Reeba Kapoor,78, wife of former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Dalip Kapoor, in her statement to the police had said Sandeep, along with accomplices, assaulted her and her daughter Sheeba, 45. They then tied them with ropes and escaped with jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees,” the officer added
