Rahul meets Modi over farmers loan waiver issue

New Delhi, Dec 16, 2016: On the last day of Winter session of Parliament, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi along with other senior party leaders on Friday meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the problems being faced by farmers of the country due to demonetisation.

In the meeting, Congress delegation hand over his party’s memorandum to PM Modi on farmers loan waiver issue.

Gandhi along with senior party leaders, including Punjab unit chief Captain Amarinder Singh and Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, raised the issue of farmers and their suicides nationwide.

“Farmers are committing suicide across the country. Every single day a farmer is committing suicide in Punjab. We met the Prime Minister seeking their loans to be waived off,” said Gandhi after the meet.

“We also raised the issue of the government waiving the import duty on wheat, which has had a devastating effect on farmers,” added Gandhi.

Earlier on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi had said that he has proof of the corruption of the prime minister and will expose him in Parliament if they allowed him to speak. He was, however, slammed by the ruling party and his claim was called a joke.
