New Delhi, June 29: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over reports of 50 percent increase in money deposited by Indians in Swiss banks.
Taking to Twitter, Gandhi said that even as Modi has failed in fulfilling his promise to bring back black money from Swiss banks.
Reminding the Prime Minister of his all promises, the Congress President tweeted: ” In 2014, HE said: I will bring back all the “BLACK” money in Swiss Banks and put 15 Lakhs in each Indian bank A/C.”

Referring to demonetisation, Gandhi reminded the countrymen of the government’s historic step to curb black money, saying ” In 2016, HE said: Demonetisation will cure India of “BLACK” money.”
Continuing his attack on PM Modi, the Congress President said ” In 2018, HE says: 50% jump in Swiss Bank deposits by Indians, is “WHITE” money. No “BLACK” in Swiss Banks!”.
Rahul Gandhi’s tweet was in reaction t0 data released by the Swiss National Bank revealed that the money parked by Indians in Swiss banks rose to Swiss Francs (CHF) 1.01 billion (Rs 7,000 crore) in 2017, showing a reverse trend as compared to the downward trend witnessed in the last three years following India’s clampdown on suspected black money.
Earlier in a day, speaking to media on the reports that money parked by Indians in Swiss banks rose by 50 per cent in 2017, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said that an agreement between India and Switzerland will provide them with all data on black money by the end of the next accounting year.
