New Delhi, Aug 1: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi met National Highways Authority of India officials and discussed the problems being faced by farmers due to alleged irregularities in land acquisition for various NHAI projects.
Leading a delegation of 90 farmers, Gandhi visited the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), briefed them about the issue and submitted a memorandum on the notices served to peasants in Ambedkar Nagar and Amethi for land acquisition.
After meeting NHAI officials, Gandhi said held talks on land acquisition of people in which correct procedure is not being followed, (Amethi mein logon ki zameen li ja rahi hai, sahi procedure follow nahi kiya ja raha hai, isi par NHAI se charcha hui).
From last few days farmers are facing problems in Jagdishpur, Ambedkarnagar and other parts of Uttar Pradesh because of alleged irregularities in land acquisition for various NHAI projects.
Rahul’s visit comes a day after Congress state president Raj Babbar ended his protest in Ambedkar Nagar under the campaign named ‘haq maango’ against inadequate compensation for acquisition of land for highway.
