New Delhi, July 12, 2017: After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced his support to NDA presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind, Congress vice-presidential Rahul Gandhi did not want to leave any stone unturned, so he rushed to JD-U leader seeking his support to Gopal Krishna Gandhi, who was picked by the united opposition as their vice-presidential candidate on Tuesday.
Sources said that Nitish assured Rahul of JD-U’s support to Gandhi. The Bihar CM told the Congress leader that Gandhi was the first preference as a Presidential candidate too.
According to the reports, Gandhi was the only name, discussed when 18 Opposition parties met on Tuesday to decide on their candidate for the vice-presidential poll.
Kumar didn’t attend the meeting of 18 opposition parties in Delhi but he sent Sharad Yadav, his party’s other top leader.
On Tuesday, a total of 18 opposition parties has picked the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and former Governor GopalKrishna Gandhi as a candidate for the forthcoming vice-presidential election which is slated to be held on August 5.
