New Delhi, Sep 24: Due to incessant rainfall, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday ordered the closure of all schools and colleges for tomorrow i.e. September 25.
Apart from this, the state government also announced an assessment of crop damage.
Earlier in a day after MeT department issued an alert, the Chief Minister also urged the people to try and not move out of their houses in the next 24 hours. “I appeal to the people to exercise restraint. During the next 24 hours, they should move out of their houses only if it is unavoidable,” he said.
Food and Civil Supplies and Animal Husbandry ministers have been directed to appoint nodal officers for distribution of food packets to the affected people and dry fodder for the animals.
The North Indian states including Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have been witnessing heavy rains from the past four days.
