Punjab polls: Badal releases Shiromani Akali Dal’s manifesto


Ludhiana, Jan 24, 2017: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday announced Shiromani Akali Dal’s manifesto for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.

Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal was also present during the manifesto release event in Ludhiana.

The manifesto promises 20 lakh jobs for the youth of Punjab. It also promises Wifi connectivity and CCTV in all villages of the state.

The manifesto says that 20 lakh jobs will be provided through government jobs and projects like Mohali IT hub, New Chandigarh Medical Tourism Hub, Bathinda Textile Hub, Ludhiana Hosiery Hub, Amritsar Tourism Hub and more. The SAD said that it will turn Amritsar into the most beautiful city and employment will grow as tourism grows.

However, the manifesto also focuses on the skills of the youth of Punjab. It says, “Ten lakh youth will be skilled in different professions through more than 25,00 skill centres across the state. There will be one skill centre for every five villages in the state.”

Promising relief to the farmers, the manifesto says, “Farm debts of small farmers with land holdings of up to 2.5 acres shall be waived off.” It also commits Rs 2 lakh interest-free agriculture crop loan for every small farmer every year.

Punjab will hold elections on February 4 and the counting of votes will be done on March 11.
